What is Tabletop Forge?
Tabletop Forge is a Google+ Hangout application that lets you play tabletop roleplaying games inside of a Google+ Hangout. It includes things like dice rolling, whispering, and map functions. Please see the features page for a list of all the current features and the roadmap for what we have planned in the future!
Why did you develop Tabletop Forge?
We have been long time users of other virtual tabletops (VTTs) and one thing we found lacking was a good social community. With the excellent audio and video that Google+ Hangouts provide the environment feels closer to the table but more importantly Google+ has a thriving RPG community. Every night you can see pickup games being organized where in the other VTT forums it would sometimes take a week or more to fill out a pickup game. Even though Google+ is still young we feel the features will only get better and the RPG Google+ circles are always very active.
How do I use Tabletop Forge?
Currently Tabletop Forge is in an open beta. If you want to give it a test drive just please note that things can change rapidly as we fix bugs, add new features, and test out new things in the user interface. You can start a Hangout using the app by using the button below.
Once you have ran Tabletop Forge once it will appear under your Recent Apps tab when you start a Google+ Hangout and can be loaded from there (and similarly for any players that join you and use the app once).
